How to select suitable slewing drive?

Slewing drives have many appliances. They are widely used not only in excavators, tower cranes, mobile cranes and crawler cranes, but also in other construction machines, engineering machines, harbor machines, metallurgical machines, light industrial machines, military equipments and wind generators, solar PV utilities etc.

Slewing drives are like silent heroes, delivering the positional accuracy and mechanical control that make much of modern technology possible. The slewing drives include single /two axis slewing drive,open/enclosed housing slewing drives,single/two worm slewing drives etc. How to choose suitable slewing drives? The following questions will give you some indications.


What are your actual performance requirements?

The most cost effective and reliable drive design will be the one that fits a minimum size profile while also meeting particular structural, power, duty cycle and survivability holding torque values. Fully appreciating your actual operating requirements is critical when evaluating slewing drive designs intended to meet them.

What are your expected environmental conditions?

Your drive’s protective outer casing must be sufficient to ensure a long mechanical life, reliable performance and adequate defense against the surrounding elements.
